11th Annual Celebrity Dinner, 2007
Months
of planning went into the preparations for the Celebrity
Dinner hosted by the Scotland County Chapter of the
American Red Cross. The event was held at the
William H. Belk Center on the St
Andrews Campus. The Celebrity Dinner is the local
Red Cross’ largest fundraiser of the year. It’s a
night when volunteers serve as “Celebrity Waiters” and
decorate the guest tables in a theme of their
choice. The Waiters dress in character costumes to
fit their themes. They serve meals to the guests
and try to raise “tip” money throughout the
evening. After dinner and award presentations,
this year’s event featured entertainment including a
silent auction, live Deejay, and raffles. The
event also included Celebrity Game Show Night.
Volunteers acted as game show hosts while the guest
played “Wheel of Fortune”, “Who wants to be a
Millionaire”, “Hunting 2 Buckmasters”, “Putting Game”,
“20 Questions’, “Deal or no Deal”, and “Family
Feud” Guest were given “Fun Money” to begin
playing the games of their choice. “Fun Money Winnings”
were used to bid on items donated by local businesses in
the live auction. The event raised over
$13,000. Please mark your calendar for the
12th Annual Celebrity Dinner to be held March
8, 2008. Call the local chapter, 910-276-0600 for
